6 students penalized; 2 expelled from hostel

Bhopal: The proctoral council of Rajiv Gandhi Prodyogiki Vishwavidyala (RGPV) has submitted its report last week regarding the incident of raids at the university. As a result of the report, six students have been disciplined, while two others have been expelled from the hostel, the vice-chancellor confirmed.

The students found guilty of hazing have been fined ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 10,000. Students have been given time to submit the fine no later than April 30. Parents of the students must come to the university to pay the fine.

“Action has been taken against students found guilty of the investigation. The university would take all steps to stop littering the campus,” said Sunil Kumar, VC, RGPV.

Last week, a clash between a group of first and second year students was reported. The disagreements surfaced when organizing a freshman party. After this, seniors beat up the first-year students.

Junior students submitted a written complaint to university officials, after which an investigation was initiated by the proctor’s board. Eight students have been found guilty of the investigation.

The report recommended that six students be imposed with fines of Rs 2-10,000. Ansh Gautam and Piyush Ratlani have been fined Rs 10,000 each while Saurabh Pandey and Gaurav Chowdhary will be fined Rs 5,000 each and Muzar Ali and Faiz Khan will be fined Rs 2,000 each.

Shivam Dubey and Pulkit Pawar have been kicked out of the hostel.

The university board has also decided that no freshman party or introduction program will be organized by the students.
