Akshay’s next film, Selfiee, also stars Emran Hashmi, Nushrratt Bharuccha and Diana Penty. It’s an action comedy movie. Akshay is seen as a ‘superstar’ and Emraan Hashmi, as a police officer, as his ‘biggest fan’.

At the launch of Selfiee’s trailer, Akshay told the reporter as quoted by Zoom, “Mera badhiya reaction rehta hai. Terakya reaction rehta hai? Tune in to bataya tha ki teri sherwani mein pareshani hui. Tujhe kaisa laga tha? (My response is always good. What was your response? You told me you had a problem wearing sherwani) (laughs).”

When the reporter said he feels good, Akshay replied, “Acha lagta hai na? Aur lagna bhi chahiye, kyunki positive baatein hai na. Bhagwan kare tere sath bhi ho. (It feels good, right? You should feel good because these are positive conversations. I hope it always happens to you).

At the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit in November 2022, Akshay talked about the high cost of cinema tickets in India. He had said, “There are so many other things that need to be done and not just by the actors, but also by the producers and theatres. I tell you I want to lower my prices by 30-40%.”

“Theaters need to understand that it is also recession time. The public has a limited amount to spend on entertainment. You can’t spend that much on it. Everything must change. And it’s not just the theaters. We have to work on the cost of me, the cost of making the movie. Everything needs to be addressed,” he also added.

Akshay shared Selfiee’s trailer on social media, writing on Sunday, “Iss kahaani ka villain toh pata nahi par hero #Selfiee hai (I don’t know the villain of his story but the hero is the Selfiee)! Watch the Selfiee trailer now. Selfiee doesn’t hit theaters until February 24.” Fans will also see Akshay in OMG: Oh My God 2 and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
