Actor Aparna Balamurali is currently promoting her upcoming release Thankam. Along with the film’s team and co-star Vineeth Srinivasan, Aparna recently attended a promotional event at a university where a student touched her without permission. In the video, Aparna looked very uncomfortable when the student forced her to get up and tried to put his arm around her for a photo. Horrified by the behavior, Aparna left. She seemed very upset.

The student immediately apologized for his behavior and even explained why he did what he did. He folded his hands. However, none of the university authorities on stage reacted to his behavior.

Commenting on the video, one user wrote on Twitter: “There are social conventions that should be followed in public so that incidents like this don’t happen. Last September, two female actors from the Malayalam movie Saturday Night were harassed by the public at a promotional event at a shopping mall in Kochi. Photos and videos of the event went viral on social media.

One of the actors shared the ordeal, writing on social media: “After the event, me and one of my fellow actors left and a man misbehaved towards my colleague, and she didn’t even get a chance to see or comment because of the hustle and bustle. Then I also encountered a similar act of misogyny and I was shocked by it, as you saw in the video.”
