Bad news for Mohammed Shami in case filed by estranged wife Hasin Jahan, details inside

In a major setback for Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami, a court in Kolkata on Monday (January 23) ordered Shami to pay Rs 50,000 monthly alimony to his estranged wife Hasin Jahan. It may be remembered that Hasin Jahan made several serious allegations against Shami four years ago.

Hasin Jahan has expressed displeasure with the alimony amount set by the court as she has demanded Rs 10 lakh per month as alimony from the right arm bowler. A case was filed by Hasin Jahan in 2018 seeking monthly alimony of Rs 10 lakh from Shami. In her petition, Hasin Jahan had mentioned that she needs Rs 7 lakh for personal expenses and Rs 3 lakh for the maintenance of the couple’s daughter.

Hasin Jahan is expected to appeal to the Kolkata District Court. The verdict was handed down by Judge Anindita Ganguly in Alipore.

The feud between Shami and Hasin Jahan came open after the latter decided to file a complaint with Jadavpur Police Station accusing Shami of adultery and domestic violence. The complaint caused a lot of trouble for Shami as the police placed non-bailable charges of domestic violence and attempted murder against the Indian pacer.

In her complaint, Hasin Jahan alleged that Shami and his relatives used to torture her whenever they went to his hometown in Uttar Pradesh. “You can ask the neighbors how they (Shami’s family) behaved towards me. I was silent because he has been asking for a divorce for two years. He tortured me, he tried everything to make me leave him” , Jahan had said. in an interview at the time. Jahan had also accused Shami of threatening her over the phone.

Shami, for his part, has repeatedly maintained his innocence, even taking to Twitter that Hasin Jahan’s allegations were totally false.
