In an interview with Pinkvilla, Bhushan Kumar was asked about actors’ fees and how actors should count according to the film’s budget. Referring to the comment he made during the promotion of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, he said that the screenplay has definitely changed with some of the actors getting more understanding. But at the same time, there are some who have not understood it either.
Bhushan said, “Lekin abhi there are still some actors, saying ki ‘nahi, hum toh itna hi lenge, warna nahi karenge.” Toh hum unke saath nahi kar rahe Hum unko bol rahe hain, ‘mat karo, we don’t want that either.’ Hum nuksan ke liye kyu karenge So many people have suffered losses in big movies and we have seen that So why should we give you money and we lose, and you earn such a big amount Ki ap €20 crore, 25 crore lelo and hum nuksaan kare movie. Whatever we earn, the project is also safe, the project does not become heavy. But jahaa pe project aapka cost itni cost nahi le sakta, waha pe hum actors se baat kar rahe hai (Still there are some actors who say things like, ‘We will charge this amount or we will not work.’ So we won’t work don’t work with them we say ‘it’s fine then don’t do it’ Why give in to losses?… That you charge €20 crores 25 crores, and we will take the losses with the film… If the demand comes for a project that is small and can’t bear the costs that high, that’s where we’re in talks with the actor).”
Recently, Karan Johar had also called out certain actors in the industry who charge a hefty sum €20 crore for a single movie, but fails to get even one €opening of 5 crore. In the same interview, Bhushan also confirmed that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is in the works and may be released in 2025.
