BHUBANESWAR: The world and the country are currently in Odisha and the state is extremely excited to host the men’s FIH Hockey World Cup for the second consecutive time, Prime Minister Naveen Patnaik said on Sunday.

“This is a moment of glory for Odisha. We experience an ecstatic evening of honour. The world and the country are in state right now and let’s celebrate together with all our hearts and minds,” Naveen told a gathering on the first day of Dot Fest at Idco Exhibition Ground.

Odisha is deeply honored to host the FIH Hockey World Cup tournament for men for the second consecutive time. People from 16 countries and around the world come here to enjoy all of our cities, Naveen said. The opening day of the second edition of Dot Fest witnessed the participation of more than 15,000 visitors. The event kicked off with performances by Bollywood actor Disha Patani, singer Guru Randhawa and South Korean pop band Blackswan.

A youngster, Adyant Patnaik, said he also attended the first edition of Dot Fest, but this time the event was much bigger and better. Randhawa roused the crowd when he went into the crowd during the performance. “The vibes Randhawa creates are magical. We feel that the famous singer is one of us,” said one of the visitors, Mrunal Kumar Meher.

This year’s edition of Dot Fest includes a flea market/night bazaar, photo exhibition – ‘Sebbe o Ebbe’ to showcase the photographs of Bhubaneswar from the late 1860s to 2023, time, international food festival comprising cuisines from 16 participating countries in the World Cup , walking trails through the capital and storytelling festival – Bhufessto. The Dot Fest, also known as the cultural festival, will take place from 15 to 29 January between 5:00 PM and 12:00 AM.
