Every year January 26 is celebrated as Republic Day in India. In the year 2022, so this year the country celebrates its 74th Republic Day. In the year 1947, the country gained independence from the British Raj, but it did not have its own constitution. India received its constitution on January 26, 1950. On this day, the Indian constitution came into force and India became a sovereign state, which was declared a republic. Dr. BR Ambedkar chaired the Drafting Committee of the Constitution. Republic was proclaimed, so this day is celebrated as Republic Day.
