Museum President Enzo Ghigo and Secretary of State of the Italian Ministry of Culture Vittorio Sgarbi presented the Oscar winner with the award. According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, the Secretary of State stated, “Tonight we witness the comeback of Kevin Spacey. The one who lives through the cinema is an immortal man, and it is precisely to him that we present this award tonight.” The actor thanked the museum for having “the balls” to invite him to the event.

Later Kevin also took part in a master class with museum director Domenico De Gaetano at Mole Antonelliana in Turin, where he discussed his career. He shared, “Tonight I count myself extremely lucky. I have been doing this work for over 40 years and I have received nothing but kindness and support from my fans and colleagues. And I am honored to be a part of this process.”

His Oscar-winning role in American Beauty (1999) was screened after the masterclass. Kevin thanked his manager Evan Lowenstein for being with him through all his troubles. He revealed that it was thanks to him that he “realized that I had to take all the setbacks and mistakes I made and get back on my feet, move on.”

The actor’s legal issues were not discussed at the event. In addition to his recent UK trial, the 63-year-old actor was found not liable in October 2022 for another US sexual misconduct case involving actor Anthony Rapp as a teenager. He is free on bail until the British trial continues later this year.

After being accused of sexual misconduct by several individuals, including Anthony, in 2017, the actor was removed from last season of Netflix’s House of Cards and his role in Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World (2017) was recast with actor Christopher Plummer .
