The Maharashtra State Commission for Women has written a letter to the Mumbai Police Commissioner asking the police to investigate the model and social media influencer Urfi Javed’s demand for security, an official said on Tuesday.
He said Urfi Javed had submitted a letter of complaint to the MSCW alleging that BJP leader Chitra Wagh had filed a complaint against her for political bickering and threatened to beat her while interacting with the media. Javed stated that she felt unsafe outside her home.
In her letter, Urfi Javed demanded safety and the MSCW asked the Mumbai Police to take serious notice of her complaint, the official said.
Last week, Urfi Javed visited MSCW President Rupali Chakankar.
“The MSCW wrote a letter to the Mumbai Police Commissioner on Monday asking the police to investigate Urfi Javed’s demand for security,” the official said.
Mumbai Police recorded a statement from Urfi Javed on Saturday in connection with a complaint filed against her by Chitra Wagh.
Ms. Wagh, head of women’s wing of Maharashtra BJP, has filed a complaint against Urfi Javed for ‘inappropriate’ dress in public places.
