Actor Mamta Mohandas has revealed that she has been diagnosed with the autoimmune disease vitiligo. Mamta took to Instagram on Sunday and also said she’s “losing color.” She also shared several selfies. In the first picture, the actor was smiling as she sat outside. Mamta was holding a cup while drinking a drink while sitting on a chair in the garden. She opted for a black ensemble: black T-shirt, tights and a jacket. She captioned the post: “Dear (sun emoji), I’m hugging you now like I never have before. So spotted, I’m losing color… I even get up for you every morning, to see your first ray through the haze glitter.”

Mamta also added, “Give me everything you’ve got…for I’ll be here and forever indebted to your grace.” She also added the hashtags: color, autoimmune disease, autoimmune disease, vitiligo, Sunday, spotlight, imperfection, no makeup, no filter, embrace the journey, heal and heal yourself. Mamta is a cancer survivor. A few years ago after she had a cancer relapse. Speaking to Time of India in 2014, she said, “Well, I can’t say I’ve been as strong as when I first got the disease. I was someone who didn’t worry about anything, whatever the problem was. But for the first time in my life I was scared. It’s easy to say be positive. But this time I felt it’s ok to be scared, to be human.”

Mamta debuted in the 2005 Malayalam film Mayookham directed by Hariharan. She starred alongside Mammootty in Bus Conductor, with Suresh Gopi in Adbutham en Lanka (2006), and alongside Jayaram in Madhuchandralekha in the same year. Mamta is also a popular playback singer. She has mainly worked in Malayalam cinema and has acted in a few Telugu, Kannada and Tamil films as well.
