Shah Rukh Khan ensures his comeback movie gets the widest release in the world. The film will be released in more than 100 record countries and will be shown on more than 2500 screens abroad alone. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the status of the overseas release on Tuesday morning, sharing on Tuesday morning: “#Xclusiv: ‘PATHAAN’ AT RECORD 100+ COUNTRIES, 2500+ SCREENS *OVERSEAS*… #Pathaan hits a century… To be released in 100+ countries, the HIGHEST for all #Indian movies ever…Total screens: 2500+ [#Overseas]… An encouraging sign for theatrical biz, especially after the pandemic.
Late Monday, Taran also shared the number of tickets sold by Pathaan for the opening day. He said 4.19 lakh tickets had already been sold for Day 1 of the release on January 25, with one day left to pre-book. The film is behind Baahubali 2 and KGF 2, both of which were dubbed in Hindi.
Taran had previously indicated that the film could open in between €45-50 crore on Wednesday. The Yash Raj Films project will hit theaters a day before Republic Day, giving the Hindi film an extended opening weekend of five days. The pre-bookings for Pathaan are open from January 20. It is reported that the film will be released in about 5,000 screens across India. It is the first Shah Rukh Khan film to be screened at 6 AM.
According to PTI, not only multiplexing, the film is also enjoying bumper advance booking in single-screen cinemas. Mumbai’s popular single-screen theaters Gaiety, Galaxy and Maratha Mandir have a booking rate of 70 to 80 percent. It is also one of the first Bollywood films to top the charts in the southern parts of the country.
Pathaan brings back hit duo Shah Rukh and Deepika Padukone. It is their fourth film together after Om Shanti Om and their biggest blockbuster Chennai Express. They were also featured in Happy New Year. John Abraham plays the antagonist while Ashutosh Rana and Dimple Kapadia play pivotal roles in the film.
