Veteran film writer Balamurugan passed away at the age of 86. According to reports, he died of old-age ailments on January 15.

Popular Tamil-Telugu story writer Balamurugan, who wrote several films in the Tamil film industry in addition to writing a few Telugu films, has passed away today, according to a report in ETimes. He was 86 years old and sick.

His son, the Telugu-Tamil film writer Bhupathi Raja, informed the media about his father’s passing. Balamurugan passed today at 8:45 am. According to the report, he suffered from age-related ailments in recent years.
Actor Kayal Devaraj mourned his passing and wrote: “Writer #Balamurugan (85) passed away yesterday at his residence in RA Puram. He was the writer for famous movies like #Anbukkarangal #EngaIoruRaja #RamanEtthanaiRamanady #PattikadaPattanama #VasanthaMaligai etc. May his soul rest in peace.

According to the report, Balamurugan wrote super hit films such as Bharmadatha, Alumagalu, Soggadu, Savasagalu and Jeevana Tarangalu. He also contributed to Geetha Arts’ first film Bantrotu Bharya.
He also wrote for Tamil actors and gave Sivaji Ganesan stories for 30-40 of his films.
